Commission Opportunity for a Mural in Aielli, Italy
Borgo Universo, in collaboration with the La Maesa Co-op and the municipality of Aielli, is looking to welcome an American artist to leave their mark in our beautiful landscape. The selected artist will contribute to this cross-cultural exchange, celebrating the historical ties between Italy and the United States while engaging with the local community through their stay.
Using (but not limited to) the Italian experience as a departure point, we would like to invite artists to reflect on stories of migration and the search of new opportunities to create a design that connects people with the artist’s point of view and individual aesthetic. This mural will highlight (as per the deep historical connection between Italy and the United States) dreams behind the struggles and aspirations of immigrants who left their homeland in search of a better future in the U.S.
