Porch Light Exchange
Mural Arts Philadelphia is seeking an artist to collaborate with participants from two Porch Light storefront communities on a day-long field trip to New York City on Saturday April 25 as part of Porch Light Exchange. This project will support neighbors from the Northeast Passage and Southeast by Southeast storefronts in traveling together, reflecting on shared experiences of home and immigration, and creating original artistic work in response to that experience.
The selected artist will lead preparatory workshops, facilitate reflection during the trip itself, and guide participants in producing creative work afterward. The final work may take the form of a zine, photo series, video, book of drawings, or another artist-proposed format, and will be shared publicly at a community celebration at a later date. We encourage proposals especially from poetry and other language mediums.
BOYZ II MEN
Mural Arts Philadelphia is soliciting an artist or a team of artists to apply for a project honoring Boyz II Men, celebrating the vocal group as a Philadelphia-born force in American music and positioning their legacy as part of the broader story of how this city has shaped the nation’s cultural identity over 250 years. The selected artist will be responsible for designing the mural; the artist can also lead the painting of the mural or Mural Arts can assemble a team to support the production. The wall will be located at 1122 South Broad Street, in South Philadelphia, and the mural is approximately 2,000 s.f. The project is expected to be dedicated in June, 2026. The total fee for the lead artist on this project will be $20,000, and there is additional funding for assistants, equipment, and materials.
Heart of Kensington Creates
Heart of Kensington Creates is a cross-sector, community-centered arts initiative focused on collective impact – lifting each neighborhood to celebrate its identity while building on their shared Kensington pride. This initiative aims to create a series of murals, art installations, and activations along Kensington Ave between the Huntingdon Street Station and the Tioga Street Station, culminating in August 2026.
2026 Gateways and Corridors RFQ
Mural Arts is seeking artists for multiple opportunities related to enhancing gateways and corridors as part of the City’s preparations for the semi-quincentennial. Murals will be commissioned in a variety of sizes, design approaches, installation approaches and themes.
To reduce the amount of effort required to apply for these multiple opportunities, we have created one application that artists can use to apply for any or all of these project types, depending on their interests and qualifications in various locations.
