Martolao (Martha O’Connell)

Martolao (Martha O’Connell) is an artist living and working in Philadelphia. Drawing is her best form of communication. Through her large scale drawings and murals, she explores memory, the connections between our bodies and our environment, and layers of time. She collaborates with pre-teens and adults on self expression through art, poetry, and costuming, writes and organizes data for youth programs, and advocates for funding and support of art-based opportunities for young people. Mural painting was her first love.  She is a member of the collective, Amber Art & Design, participating in publicly engaged projects and events.
